Synopsis: The setting is the Lantz Institute, a clinic specializing in the study of sleep disorders. Despite the wide variety of conditions being researched (including narcolepsy, sleep paralysis, and lucid dreaming), the patients share one “symptom” in common: they all report that they’ve been menaced by a dark, hazy figure clad in a fedora—a seemingly harmless, but nevertheless terrifying, hallucination.
Desperate to assuage our heroes’ fears, a well-meaning doctor decides to treat them with an experimental sedative. Unfortunately, the drug has an unintended side effect, transporting the group into a shared dreamscape—one in which the murderous “Shadow Man” is able to regain his true form. That's right: Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) is back! And with each victim that he claims, his diminished powers are gradually restored.
Luckily, our protagonists won’t be fighting alone: the pure soul of Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) also resides in this hellish realm—and after struggling for decades to hold the murderer at bay, she’s ready to help our ragtag team of misfits put an end to his killing spree once and for all.
Together, these new Dream Warriors might just manage to Escape from Freddy's Nightmare.
